Make Reading Fun with Bunny Bookmarks

Updated: Apr 12, 2020

Hold the spot with these cute bunny bookmarks

These bunny bookmarks are sure to get your little ones excited about reading. We read a lot of books and our children were thrilled to add these to the fun.

The bunny bookmarks are actually quite easy to make. It might look like a lot of steps but its quick and once you‘ve made one you’ll be able to show your child how to do it. Our 6 year old was able to follow my instructions to make his own and he was really happy that he did it.

Follow my video or use the step by step instructions to make your own bunny bookmark. Then add them to your next reading adventure.

What You’ll Need:

  • 1 spring color paper cut into a 6x6 square

  • 1 scrap piece of white paper for the teeth

  • 1 scrap piece of paper in pink or anther color for the inside of the ears

  • scissors

  • glue stick

  • goggly eyes

  • black marker

How to make the bunny bookmarks:

Start by gathering your supplies. If you happen to have origami paper, that would be ideal. If you don't however, construction paper or card stock work just fine. I made the green bunny bookmark from card stock and Henry made his from construction paper. It's easier to fold thinner paper though. I labeled the corners of the sample square to hopefully make it easier to follow.

Step 1:

Fold corner 2 to the opposite top corner 1. Then open the paper again. Now rotate the paper 1 turn to the right.

Step 2:

Fold corner 3 up to corner 4. Then open the paper again.

Step 3:

Bring corner 5 down to the middle number 6.

Step 4:

Bring the right corner, number 7, over to the middle 8.

Step 5:

Bring the left corner, number 9, over to the middle number 10. Now it should look like an envelope.

Step 6:

Open the right tab then lift it up to the top.

Step 7:

Open the left tab and then lift it up to the top.

Step 8:

Tuck the right tab into the pocket.

Step 9:

Tuck the left tab into the pocket.

Now for the final steps. All you need to do is add the teeth, ears and eyes. To do this, use the scrap paper to cut the ears and teeth. Then glue them on. Draw a straight line down the center of the white paper to make two teeth. Add the eyes and you're done. Watch the video above to see the steps in motion.

Now you have your very own bunny bookmarks. What color bunny bookmarks did you chose to make? Post your pictures below.
