Adorable Popsicle Stick Ballerinas

I made the most adorable popsicle stick ballerinas today and you can too. Our two year old's bedroom theme is ballerinas and recently she has grown to love pretending to be a ballerina. This turned out to be a fun surprise for her. Children can make the craft as well, but I wanted to surprise her. Here are the steps you can follow to make your own popsicle stick ballerinas.

Supplies You'll need:

  • Wide popsicle sticks

  • Paper baking ups in fun patterns or colors

  • Yarn

  • Hot glue gun

  • Paint in matching colors and paint brushes

  • Black marker

  • Yarn or ribbon for the bow

  • Scissors

How to make popsicle stick ballerinas:

You can start by painting the whole popsicle stick white, tan, black or whichever color you would like their skin color to be. I simply left them their natural color however. If you choose to paint the whole thing, allow some time to dry before moving to the next step.

Next paint the leotard and the ballet slippers. Allow that to dry. When it does, use the black marker to trace an outline over the top of the leotard and ballet shoes.

Then fold the paper baking cup in half and use the hot glue gun to glue it onto the leotard. I used a standard size baking cup on one and a mini paper baking cup on the other one.

While the hot glue gun is still warm, glue the hair on. To do so, first cut the yarn into 6 inch strips. I used 6 pieces. Line them up together and glue the middle part to the back of the ballerina. Then turn it over. Place a dot of glue on the forehead and fold one side up at an angle and then place a dot of glue on top of that and fold the other side in the opposite direction. Then bring them together and tie a bow around it. Cut off the excess.

Now simply draw a face on your ballerina and you're done. They are incredible cute and fun to play with.
